What's Over Your Eyes?
I've come to believe that most Americans live in The Truman Show. The media-generated reality in which we exist is mostly well-crafted theater. The question becomes:
How much real reality can you handle?
Accurate information about the world is available, but not in any popular media. Our task thus becomes to find the accurate story. I have come to call that journey "going down the rabbit hole" - not an easy descent; we would rather live in denial. My favorite T-shirt pictures a family sitting around a TV and the screen reads "Experts agree, everything is just fine".
In this web site we will:
- Offer information to give you a more accurate picture of what's really going on, so you can make informed decisions that protect and support you in creating a sustainable life for you and your family.
- Explore democracy as a sacred and innate behavior, the threats it faces in America and the creative new models on which it may be rebuilt.
- Provide a spiritual context in which to hold our highly uncertain future.
- Present opportunities, possibilities and connections to people and groups that are already actively answering the question, "What can we do now?"
We call it "Lifeboats?" to suggest:
- the necessary local focus required to build the new culture
- the urgency sparked by our rapidly changing and uncertain times
- the ability to ride the waves of change that may churn up or down
- the safety of a small group, inviting like-hearted, like-minded participants
- that, as in an airplane emergency, you put your own air mask on first then help others. You lifeboat will help you breathe easier as you take action in the world.
And "Sacred" means joy: As we live in joy we lead with our hearts and souls. To change our world begins with our inner life. From this will come lasting and meaningful change. Therefore, as we share these ideas and tools of building a sacred lifeboat we go the essence of a warrior's stance - the courage to face our own hidden fears, so that we can resist forces that would take us out of integrity.
Who this is for:
This site is meant for mature people who already understand the present danger or have the courage to seriously study current reality as they go down the Rabbit Hole.
The Build a Lifeboat section will be most useful to highly intentional individuals who clearly recognize the urgent need for a "Lifeboat", desire to wean away from toxic society and long for intimate community.
We provide this site as a toolkit and as inspiration for you to build and launch your own sacred lifeboat.
